Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation that is often referred to as "yogic sleep." The teacher will then guide you through a series of relaxation exercises. You will be asked to focus on different parts of your body, You may also be asked to visualize different scenes or to focus on your breath.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga- Softening the Edges

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that targets the connective tissues of the body, such as the tendons, ligaments, and fascia. Poses are held for longer periods of time, typically 3-5 minutes, to allow the body to relax and release tension. Yin Yoga is often described as a more meditative practice than other styles of yoga, as it encourages practitioners to focus on their breath and body sensations.

Benefits of Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga offers a wide range of benefits, both physical and mental. Some of the physical benefits of Yin Yoga include:

  • Increased flexibility

  • Improved range of motion

  • Reduced pain and stiffness

  • Improved joint health

  • Better circulation

  • Stronger connective tissues

Yin Yoga can also be beneficial for mental health, as it can help to:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Improve mood and emotional well-being

  • Promote relaxation and sleep

  • Increase self-awareness and mindfulness

Who can do Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. It is a particularly good option for people who are new to yoga, as it is a more gentle and accessible style of practice. Yin Yoga can also be beneficial for people with injuries or chronic pain, as it can help to improve flexibility and reduce discomfort.

What to expect in a Yin Yoga class

A typical Yin Yoga class will begin with a warm-up to prepare the body for the practice. Poses are then held for longer periods of time, typically 3-5 minutes, with props such as blocks, blankets, and bolsters used to support the body and allow for deeper relaxation. At the end of the class, there is usually a time for final relaxation, such as in Savasana (Corpse Pose).

If you are new to Yin Yoga, it is important to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard. If you experience any pain, come out of the pose.

Yin Yoga is a great way to improve your flexibility, reduce stress, and boost your overall well-being. If you are looking for a more meditative and relaxing style of yoga, Yin Yoga is a great option.
